Who Are The Ideal Casting Choices To Play Penguin In The DC Cinematic Universe?

Penguin

Who’s a good fit to play the Penguin in the DC Cinematic Universe? With the news of the popular villain being featured in future films, the casting rumor mills have been heating up. There are a few names that deserve a lot of thought.

1. Josh Gad-
Gad has been campaigning for this role on Twitter. While he might not be the first name you think of regarding the Penguin, you need to think outside of the box with this. Gad brings a certain type of energy and passion to the table. Can he play the bad guy? We’ve only seen Gad play more comedic roles. Surely he’ll get a look by casting, and if the fan campaigning has anything to do with it, the role might be his.

2. Peter Dinklage-
Why not? We’ve seen Danny Devito play the role and he’s not very tall. In fact, having a Penguin that’s shorter might add to the character. It doesn’t hurt that Dinklage is one of the best actors in Hollywood. We’ve seen him play the sadistic villain in Game of Thrones, so why not here? He’s got the size and the acting chops you’d want in the Penguin.

3. Robin Lord Taylor-
It’s almost a certainty  Taylor won’t get the role of Penguin. While he’s done a great portrayal of the villain on Gotham, DC and Warner Brothers won’t want to cast him in the same role again. I think that’s a mistake. Taylor might be the best Penguin we’ve ever seen. He’s made a name for himself in the Gotham version. When you’re good at something, just keep doing it. It won’t be too hard to separate his two different roles with the character.

4. Andy Serkis-
Don’t let the numerous green screen characters fool you, Serkis can act. As evident from his role in Black Panther, there’s little he can’t do. Playing Penguin would be his biggest live-action role to date. This might be the home run shot for Warner Brothers and DC. A well-established CGI actor, we are starting to see more Andy Serkis in the film world.

There are many other options for a Penguin casting. It’s possible we don’t even get an A-list or B-list actor to play this role. There’s a lot on the line for DC. Fans have criticized their casting choices before. A solid choice for Penguin might sway some who were against the DC Cinematic Universe.
