Who Will Be the Best QB in the AFC East?
The AFC East is going to be shaken up in 2020 and a new king of the division will be crowned at quarterback. Breaking down the AFC East which team is in the best position?
Miami Dolphins
QBs: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Josh Rosen, Tua Tagovailoa, Jake Ruddock, Malcolm Perry
Miami has the edge when it comes to quarterback, not in terms of talent but experience alone. Fitzpatrick isn’t the flashiest quarterback but he’s most equipped to teach young QBs. He’s been to the playoffs, he’s been on rebuilds, he’s competed for starting jobs. Josh Rosen is still developing and might not have a future in Miami now that Tua has arrived. Speaking of Tua if he stays healthy, his upside is towards the top of the pile in potential. While Malcolm Perry is listed as a running back, in a pinch the coaches can get creative and use his QB skills. The Dolphins might have a weak QB room as it sits right now, but has the depth to succeed.

Buffalo Bills
QBs: Josh Allen, Matt Barkley, Jake Fromm, Davis Webb
The Bills took control of their rebuild last season making it to the playoffs for the second time in three years. Now the Bills looked poised to take control of the AFC East. Matt Barkley might not be the future of the franchise but Jake Fromm falling in the draft might have been the blessing they need. If Fromm can learn quickly he can easily be used right away in gadget plays and emergency starts if injuries happen. The Bills are built into a playoff-caliber team so their backups should have the easiest transition.
New York Jets
QBs: Sam Darnold, David Foles, James Morgan, Mike White
Sam Darnold will finally have some weapons this year to make a splash, but past their starting quarterback, it gets a little shaky. Beefing up on their offensive in the draft with a running back, tackle, wide receivers, and offense back up quarterback James Morgan ought to add some much-needed depth. Unfortunately for the Jets, Darnold needs to stay healthier for their season to stay on track.
New England Patriots
QBs: Jarrett Stidham, Brian Hoyer
The Patriots might have been the powerhouse of the AFC East for two decades but now that power left. The team might still be starting a new quarterback this season, but still have the chemistry of their old coach and veteran players. Where they lack is depth and experience. Brian Hoyer is a veteran journeyman QB and never stuck as a starter. Now with only two quarterbacks on the roster, the Pats need to hope injury doesn’t bite early in the season.
