Willie Cauley-Stein Won’t Recieve A Warm Welcome Back To Sacramento

Willie Cauley-Stein

You either love Willie Cauley-Stein, or you hate him. There’s really no middle ground. If you’re a Sacramento Kings fan, chances are you might be the latter. After the big man’s comments about his time in the Capital City, a lot of Kings faithful will have resentment towards him.

Cauley-Stein gave the Kings decent years. In no way where they consistent. However, he was at least a big body that could bang around when he felt like it. That’s the key, though, when he felt like it.

WCS never put forth the full effort. That’s why Kings fans weren’t too sad to see him leave. Had it not been for the following comments about his time in Sacramento, many Kings diehards wouldn’t have cared much about Cauley-Stein departing Sacramento.

“My whole past 4 years with the Kings was like being in a time chamber, i had to learn the league…in the mud, compared to this. As soon as you come across the bridge you feel a winning mentality.”

These comments can really hit home with a lot of Kings fans, who already feel like the Warriors have a stranglehold on their city. Cauley-Stein has very little room to talk.

Considering he took a minimum deal to play with Golden State, there’s little he can say or do that will justify him as a star player in the NBA. He’s not entitled to say these things. Given the effort he put forth with the Sacramento Kings, he should be ashamed to make these kind of comments. The Kings could have benched him, fined him, suspended him, yet, they kept working with him, despite his effort on the court.

It’s unlikely WCS starts with the Golden State Warriors. He’s got a stress fracture in his foot that’ll keep him out for the preseason. Kevon Looney will probably earn the starting role. It’ll be a long road for Wille Cauley-Stein to get to the level he was when he got drafted in the first round. Is he really happy to have signed with the Warriors for a minimum deal? Does he actually show any more effort with GSW than he did with Sacramento?

That effort earned Willie Cauley-Stein a real love-hate relationship with the Sacramento fanbase. Fans questioned his desire to play while on the team. Now, with these comments, it’s clear as day that he didn’t want to be with the Kings. Don’t expect Kingd fans to give WCS a nice ovation when he returns for his first game at Golden 1 Center.

It’s apparent Willie Cauley-Stein only thinks about himself. His comments show that the Kings, who did everything for him, weren’t important enough for him to put forth an effort on the court. Don’t count on WCS this season. In fact, don’t ever count on him. It won’t be long before he gives minimal effort with the Warriors. That’s just the player he is.
