With Paramount+, Should They Bring Back Nickelodeon Game Shows?
Now that Paramount+ is an active subscription service hosting the majority of Nickelodeon shows, is it time we bring back the glory days in gameshows? Throughout history, Nick has had their fair share of family-friendly gameshows to hook kids in competition and play. Since everything under the sun is being rebooted, here’s a growing list of gameshows we’d like to see the show back up.
Wild & Crazy Kids
Having only run for two years, Wild and Crazy Kids was one of the least popular of their gameshows. There wasn’t the big production and set designs of the other shows, but this one was fun nonetheless. The general appeal of Wild & Crazy Kids was most of the games they played looked like something you could design for your backyard with a little creativity.
Maybe that’s what the reboot can be based on. Take Wild & Crazy Kids and give a breakdown on how to make these household games, make it parents vs kids, and get creative with the home audience.
Double Dare
Yes, this one has been rebooted, many times, but it’s one of their classics. The wild and messy world of Nickelodeon was firmly on display with this one. Between the mix of trivia and challenges, Double Dare provided both humor and knowledge. Sure it might have been a dud for the television reboot, but there’s no shortage of gameshows still on tv and a streaming service could use a little nostalgia.

Nickelodeon Guts
Imagine American Gladiators, for kids. Nickelodeon Guts was the athletic skills competition for the younger crowd. A skills competition like no other ending in the famous Aggro Crag. Gone are the days of racing home to see these style shows, pushed out of the way for the Youtube generation. Guts took sports and remixed them with skills challenges in this competition show. Guts would be a perfect opportunity to see everyday relatable skills and used in gameshow form for prizes, the perfect combination.
Legends of the Hidden Temple
Okay so this one may be already in the works as a rebooted movie, not a game show, but hopefully, that spawns a return. There’s no better game show as a kid growing up than Legends of the Hidden Temple on Nickelodeon. Between the Moat, Steps of Knowledge, Temple Games, and Temple Run this was the most engaging and entertaining of their previous gameshows. If ever there was a chance at a reboot, Paramount+ should start here.
Nickelodeon never really had a long run on gameshows but that shouldn’t matter. Content-wise there’s not much more than what they already have on general television. Since there’s a growing need for nostalgia and simpler times, why not dive back into some of the game shows that made Nickelodeon fun?
