Ring of Honor: A new Woman of Honor champion crowned at Final Battle
Ring of Honor held their annual Final Battle pay-per-view event on Friday night. Every title was being defended and all of them were great matches. Jeff Cobb and Jay Lethal were able to retain their belts. The Briscoes became your new ROH World Tag team champions. Finally, Kelly Klein was able to defeat four other women to become the newest Women of Honor champion.
The match was in essence a fatal-four way between Madison Rayne, Karen Q, Kelly Klein, and Sumie Sakai. Sumie happened to be the champion coming into this match. One of the things I noticed was how Kelly Klein was looking dominate. Kelly Klein ended up making the first pin roughly seven minutes into the match. At this point, Sumie Sakai and Madison Rayne were outside the ring. Kelly Klein would then end up pinning Karen Q after doing the K-Power move. Madison Rayne would fall next to Klein. After Sumie Sakai hit the Smash Mouth on Madison, Kelly pushed Samie out of the ring to pin Madison. At this point, we got the rematch from the Supercard of Honor match earlier this year. The crowd was very much into the match. Kelly Klein ended up winning the match after performing her finishing move on Sumie Sakai.
This match told a great story. You had a woman in Kelly Klein who is one of the top women wrestlers in ROH. On Friday night, she ended up proving it by taking out three of the top women in ROH. If I were booking her run, I’d give her a run with the belt heading into the Supercard show at the Garden in April. By giving her this kind of run, you allow her to add more credibility to that belt.
Overall, I thought Final Battle was good. Look for my overall recap of Final Battle next week on Comeback Wrestling Show that airs on Wednesday nights from 9-11pm.
