WrestleMania: Edge/Randy Orton became a must see match with ending of Raw
As we saw at the Royal Rumble, Edge made his return after he retired back in 2011. He entered at #28 and lasted 23:43 in the match. It’s worth noting that Edge’s time in the ring was the third-longest of the night. Only Brock Lesnar and the winner, Drew McIntyre, had a longer time in the match. We ended up seeing Edge make his return to Raw the next night to close the show out. As he is closing the show, we end up seeing Randy Orton come out.
If you recall at the Rumble, Edge ended up eliminating Orton. Randy Orton came out and put Edge over big time. Orton makes the point that Edge was the one who helped him a lot when Orton was younger. Then Orton mentioned about possibly reuniting the team of Rated RKO. If you recall, Edge and Orton were apart of the team called Rated RKO. This team lasted from 2006-2007. In this time frame, they were able to capture the tag belts on an episode of Raw. This was their only time holding the belts.
As Edge was about to answer, we would see Randy Orton attack Edge with Orton’s RKO. Over the next five mins, both Orton and Edge made their inevitable WrestleMania match a must-see match. In that time spam, Orton became the biggest heel in the company and Edge was a mega babyface. But there are other things that you need to look at. The announcers didn’t talk. They reacted once the RKO was done and then didn’t say much. I liked that they allowed them to tell the story.
In addition, the cameramen did a great job. When the chair shot happened, we saw the camera angle stay on Edge as it showed that he was shaking.
Edge and Randy Orton took five minutes and made their inevitable match at WrestleMania a must-see. The build will be fantastic.
