Wrestling: CM Punk being sued by Colt Cabana and the Affect on All In
CM Punk hasn’t been in a WWE ring since the 2014 Royal Rumble. However, he may have made a much larger mistake with his most recent actions. After CM Punk left the WWE, he would end up having a tell-all on his friend, Colt Cabana’s podcast “The Art of Wrestling.” During this episode, Punk would end up taking shots at WWE doctor, Chris Amann. When word got back to the WWE doctor, he would end up suing both Cabana and Punk, based on defamation. Amman’s basis was that Punk was making false claims about how the WWE treated his injuries. The other part of the lawsuit was that Amann wanted them to take down the episode.
Punk and Cabana would end up winning the defamation lawsuit and could keep the episode up. However, the story now takes an interesting turn. Reports are that Colt Cabana is now suing CM Punk for $200,000 in general damages, plus $1 million in punitive and exemplary damages. The reasoning for Cabana now suing his former friend CM Punk is that Cabana was promised a lot of things during the trial and Punk never followed through on them.
THE POTENTIAL FALLOUT FOR ALL-IN
At a local wrestling show in Chicago, CM Punk’s name was brought up. When you typically bring up his name in the Chicago area, it usually gets a huge pop from the crowd. However, he got booed and there was now a Colt Cabana chant going on. What makes this interesting to me is if this will affect All In. A few days before All In, CM Punk is set to do a signing. In essence, it would be his first public appearance since this newest lawsuit came out. I believe it will backfire on the signing. However, I could see it having a slightly more significant impact on All In. Wrestling fans have been known to use CM Punk’s name to hijack a show.
This news about CM Punk and Colt Cabana will now make All In even more interesting.
