Wrestling: October will be the most important month
We have a few days left in September. Come October 1st, the most crucial month in wrestling happens and we will have a different landscape to professional wrestling. Nothing will be changing with Mondays as Raw will still be on the USA Network. However, that is the only program not changing. Smackdown will return on Friday as they start on Fox. We won’t have any wrestling on Tuesday nights until the end of the month when Impact Wrestling moves to AXS TV. However, the one that has garnered the most attention is Wednesday night.
On Wednesday Nights from 8-10 pm, wrestling fans will be flipping between NXT and AEW Dynamite. For the first time since the late 1990’s, there will be an alternative promotion to the WWE. AEW hasn’t had a TV show yet, but they have really changed the landscape with their four shows. On the debut episode for AEW, we will see a ton of great matches. Some of them include Cody Rhodes vs. Sammy Guevara, Nyla Rose take on Riho to see who will be the first AEW Woman’s champion, The Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) take on Chris Jericho and two mystery partners, Adam Hangman Page takes on Pac, and MJF takes on Brandon Cutler. These are just the announced matches.
On the other hand, NXT is going into their October 2nd episode with a Takeover feel. We will see Shayna Bazler take on Candice LeRae for the NXT Women’s champion, Matt Riddle takes on Adam Cole for his NXT title, Bobby FIsh and Kyle O’ Reily defend their tag titles against the Street Profits. It was also teased that Lio Rush will take on Drew Gulak for the Crusierweight champion.
Wednesday Nights are going to be interesting when it comes to wrestling as you have two programs ready to go to war. In addition, you will also have the WWE Draft take place in October, NWA will tape material for their tv show, and Hell in Cell takes place.
In the words of Cody Rhodes, ” This is a revolution…..”
