WWE: Authors of Pain have been obsolete since they spilt with Paul Ellering

For most of 2017, the Authors of Pain were dominating the tag team scene on NXT. Behind the mic work of legendary manager, Paul Ellering. The duo of Akam and Rezar were at the top. They even held the Tag team titles for a good amount of time. The feeling among the WWE fans was that all three of them were heading to the main roster after WrestleMania 34.

They finally appeared on RAW to accept a challenge from the Beauty and the Man-Beast (Heath Slater and Rhyno). They ended up having a few matches on RAW and that was it. It would be worth noting that they would end up splitting up Paul Ellering and the Authors of Pain. At today’s conference call to promote NXT Takeover, Triple H went on record to say that he wasn’t on board with that idea. Personally, I agree with him. It is clear that Akam and Rezar are not English-born people. In the almost two years that Paul Ellering was paired with them, he made them relevant. I don’t know how relevant they will be without him. They will probably do well because of their size, but without a mouthpiece, they are not as relevant.

After Money in the Bank, I hope WWE fans get to see more of AOP and possible a mouthpiece. The tag team scene on RAW has been stale as of late. A shot of AOP may help this division a lot. It seems we have got the same matches in the tag division. In all honesty, I wouldn’t mind seeing AOP go for the RAW Tag Titles by SummerSlam. They always say there are people who need a belt. At this point, the Authors of Pain need the RAW Tag titles sooner than later. It will be interesting to see what happens with AOP going further.
