WWE Backlash: Carmella, Nia Jax both need to retain the Woman titles
On Sunday, the WWE Universe will see both the Raw and Smackdown Women’s Titles on the line. On the Smackdown side, Carmella will defend it against Charlotte Flair. For Raw, we will see Nia Jax defend the Raw Woman’s Title against Alexa Bliss. While you have two different matches, when you look at the bottom line they are more similar than people are thinking.
You have two champions in Nia Jax and Carmella that recently won the belt. Nia Jax won it at WrestleMania 34 and Carmella won it after she cashed in on the Smackdown after WrestleMania. Personally, I don’t see a possible scenario where the WWE will have either Nia Jax or Carmella drop the belt. On the most recent episode of TAZ’s show, he made the point that neither Charlotte or Alexa Bliss need the belt as they are over within the WWE universe.
He has a point, we will look at Charlotte first. It doesn’t matter what brand she is on or if she is a face or heel, she will get cheered. Also, she has accomplished enough that not having the belt for a few months wouldn’t hurt her credibility. On the other hand, Alexa Bliss has been able to get heat from her promos and facial expressions. She could always use the belt, it isn’t necessary to have either Charlotte or Alexa Bliss capture the belts on Sunday.
It seems that the WWE is fully behind both Nia Jax and Carmella. Thus, it is nice to see new faces at the top of the woman’s division. It will be interesting to see where the WWE goes with both women wrestlers. On Raw, I wouldn’t be shocked to see someone like an Ember Moon, Natalya, or Bayley be next in line. On the Smackdown side, I could see an Asuka or Becky Lynch next in line.
