WWE: How I would book the “big angle” at Fastlane
On Sunday, the WWE is having their final pay-per-view before WrestleMania in Fastlane. The main event of this pay-per-view will be a six-pack challenge between WWE champion AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, and John Cena. While the feeling is that AJ Styles will all but retain the title, there is speculation that a major angle could be in the works for the match.
We know that AJ Styles already has plans for WrestleMania as he will face Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE title. My guess is Owens, Zayn, Corbin, and Ziggler will probably be in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. That would end up leaving John Cena with nothing. It has been rumored for some time that the WWE is planning on a clash between John Cena and the Undertaker. A great angle for the event would be a returning Undertaker to cost John Cena the opportunity to win his 17th championship. It would accomplish a few things. For starters, it would further the storyline of John Cena becoming desperate. In addition, we would get the long-awaited match between the two. However now begs the question:
How do you book his return?
If I were one the writers for the WWE here is how I would do it. I would have John Cena go after Baron Corbin. The two of them have history and John Cena did cost Corbin his chance at cashing in. I would have John Cena put everything into it and have to crawl to cover him for the pin. As the ref is about to count three, the lights go out in the arena. You then hear the gong sound. The lights come on and no one is there and John Cena is beside himself. Due to the distraction, AJ Styles rolls him up for the pin. Thus, it is worth noting that AJ Styles takes out Baron Corbin.
We then see John Cena open up the RAW on the next night in a pissed off mood. He calls out the dead man and asks him why did you screw me. After going back and forth for a few, John Cena turns around and says, “I have done it all at WrestleMania, but beat you”. After the crowd pops because they know what happens, the Undertaker points to the WrestleMania sign and says I will see you at the Superdome.
