WWE: Former Ring of Honor champion makes debut at NXT Tapings
Warning: This article contains spoilers of the upcoming NXT Tapings
On Wednesday’s NXT episode, we saw the debut of Bobby Fish as he fought Aliester Black to open the show. However by all indications, it seems there is another Ring of Honor champion set to join Bobby Fish at Full Sail University. At the upcoming taping which are probably the ones heading into Takeover Brooklyn, we saw the debut of Kyle O’Reilly.
Kyle O’Reilly was one of the bigger Ring of Honor stars in late 2016 and early 2017 as he was in a program with Adam Cole. Around the holidays, Kyle’s contract expired and he was taking independent bookings. It was however reported through Pro Wrestling Sheet that there is no deal yet, but one is imminent. Kyle O Reilly is continuing the trend of Ring of Honor stars making the jump to the WWE. In the last year, Rodrick Strong, Austin Aries (now he is released), Nigel McGuniess, and Steve Corino have all come to the WWE in one way or another.
However, there happens to be a long list of WWE superstars who have had runs in Ring of Honor. Some of them include Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Cesaro, Mike Bennett, Chris Hero, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Luke Harper, and many more. While it seems that most of them do jump to the WWE, many of them have made the move to TNA/GFW/Impact Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
What makes the arrival of Kyle O’Reily more interesting is that his former tag partner, Bobby Fish, just made his debut on NXT. So there has been some speculation that Kyle O’Reily and Bobby Fish could reunite the team known as the reDRagon. Personally, I would like that due to how weak the NXT tag team division is as of now. As of this writing, you have Authors of Pain, Heavy Machinery, TM-61 (has not been seen in a while), and the team of Rodrick Moss and Tino.
