WWE: Goldberg should lose to The Fiend at Super Showdown
The last time WWE fans saw Goldberg in a WWE ring was at Summerslam 2019 when he beat Dolph Ziggler. Goldberg would then return to the WWE on Friday night to set up his match at Super Showdown. We would find out as the show closed out that Goldberg will be facing the Fiend for the Universal title. This will be the third time Goldberg will be in a Universal title match. Everyone thought that he would have lost to Kevin Owens at Fastlane a number of years back. However, he ended up winning the title and walked into WrestleMania 33 as the Universal champion.
Now that he has another title opportunity at Super Showdown, it should be a much different result than what happened at Fastlane. It’s clear that WWE has major plans for the Fiend. He has held the title since Crown Jewel. The feeling is that he will hold the title going into WrestleMania. If WWE wanted to be smart, they would let him go on a mega run (a la Brock Lesnar 500+ day run). In his reign, he has defeated Seth Rollins, The Miz, and Daniel Bryan. He still needs to defeat someone who is looked at as a legend and could give him more credibility.
I know the WWE likes to swerve us from time to time, but this isn’t the time to pull the title off of The Fiend. He is one of the most popular superstars right now. Personally, I feel there is still a lot that WWE could tell with the Fiend character. As we saw when Goldberg defeated Kevin Owens that it hurt the push. You are seeing fans leave the WWE for other promotions like AEW or others. If you have Goldberg win the title at Super Showdown, you will see a lot of angry being thrown towards the WWE.
