WWE: A “Hero” returned to NXT (video)
On Wednesday night’s episode of NXT, it was made clear as to the direction that WWE wants to go with the NXT Champion Bobby Roode as they head into NXT Takeover: Orlando. After Bobby Roode was victorious over No Way Jose and he was celebrating the victory, there was someone who made their intentions clear as they came down the ramp at Full Sail University.
The “someone” who made their intentions clear on tonight’s episode was Kassius Ohno. If you aren’t familiar with that name, then you may know this wrestler as none other than Chris Hero. This marked Ohno’s second run with the WWE. The first run for Ohno was from 2011, when NXT was still known as FCW, until 2013. While he was in the development system of WWE, he would end up wrestling with several people who are now on the main roster like Cesaro, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and others. It should be noted that Cesaro and Ohno both had their tryouts for the WWE at the same time, but Cesaro was signed very fast as there were some issues with Ohno’s physical. However, he has had other stops in promotions like TNA, Ring of Honor, PWG, and others.
In regards to having him be the one to have the program with Bobby Roode heading into WrestleMania weekend, I find it interesting for one reason. He hasn’t been on WWE TV for a few years and he makes his return and bypasses guys Rodrick Strong and Almas. My guess is that whoever comes out of Orlando with the NXT title will get Strong, Almas or Young heading towards the next takeover which will be in Brooklyn before Summer Slam.
In case you missed it, here is the clip from the official WWE Youtube account of Kassius Ohno making his return to WWE NXT:
