WWE: How did they screw up the women’s match at Crown Jewel?
The WWE is set to hold their latest Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on Thursday. The two headlining matches are Tyson Fury taking on Braun Strowman in a singles match. The other one will see Cain Valesequez take on Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship. While most of the card has been known, the WWE did announce another match being added. However, this wasn’t an ordinary match as the WWE was set to make history.
The voice of the WWE, Michael Cole was the one to break the news earlier on Wednesday. For the first time ever, Crown Jewel will feature a woman’s match. We will see Lacey Evans take on Natayla at the show. We saw Alexa Bliss take on Sasha Banks a few years back at a house show in the Middle East, but this is the first time it will be on the Network. This is historical because women are treated as second class citizens. While this is major news, there seems to be people shaking there heads. It’s not at Natayla at all as she deserves this opportunity. She has been with the company for years. She’s a trailblazer in the women’s division. You can not say the same thing about Lacey Evans.
Lacey Evans has not been in the WWE that long. In addition, she hasn’t been booked well. I’m not blaming her and instead this is towards creative. On an episode of the Comeback Wrestling Show, I made the comment about how Lacey Evan’s booking has been her downfall. I would have never had her go right for Becky Lynch right after WrestleMania. I would have built her where she was getting wins over superstars like Dana Brooke, Tamina Snuka, or anyone who is towards the bottom of the women’s division.
If I were going to put anyone in the spot of Lacey Evans, you could have gone Charlotte, Becky Lynch, or Sasha Banks. I just don’t feel Lacey Evans deserves this opportunity with how shes been booked lately.
