WWE: Johnny Gargano/Tommaso Ciampa feud has become one of the best feuds in NXT

The WWE has been under the control of Vince McMahon since 1980. Since he took over the company we have some great feuds. Some of them would include Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage, Daniel Bryan vs. the Authority, CM Punk vs. John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Vince McMahon, and others. While those are some legendary feuds to occur on the main roster, there is a feud that has been brewing in NXT for most of 2018 and it has become one of the brands best feuds ever.

No, I’m not talking about the one between Ricochet and Velveteen Dream or Pete Dunne and Rodrick Strong. The feud I’m talking about doesn’t have a belt being the end prize. This is a personal feud that personally has become a staple of NXT TV. I’m talking about the feud between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. This feud began the night that DIY (the tag team of Gargano and Ciampa) couldn’t regain the NXT Tag titles against Authors of Pain at last year’s Takeover Chicago event. It would have begun last summer but Ciampa was sidelined with an injury that kept him out of action for most of 2017. Now, fast forward to the 2018 Royal Rumble. Johnny Gargano and Almas have a top-level match for the NXT title. After having one of the best matches, the audience is basically thanking Gargano as he was walking up the ramp with his wife, Candice LeRae. When they got to the head of the ramp, Gargano was hit by a crutch by his former tag partner and former friend Ciampa.

The two wouldn’t have their first match until Takeover New Orleans. Over the last six months, this feud has done two major things. For starters, it has made Johnny Gargano the brand’s top babyface. On the flip side, Tommaso Ciampa is the top heel in the brand. In some cases, Ciampa has become the top heel in the company. It’s tough to say guys like Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, or Shinsuke Nakamura are heels because they get cheered on a nightly basis. I see a heel as someone like Ciampa or the Miz. They get booed the second they are shown on the screen.

As a viewer, I am very interested in where the WWE goes with this feud. Personally, I hope this feud doesn’t end anytime soon.
