WWE: Johnny Gargano won’t win the NXT title in Philadelphia
The main event for NXT Takeover Philadelphia has been set. After Johnny Gargano defeated Lars Sullivan, Aleister Black, and Kilian Dain in a fatal four way, he was announced as the number one contender for the NXT title. He will have a match with Andrade “Cien” Almas at NXT Takeover Philadelphia for the title.
It would be a nice thing for him to capture the title, I don’t see it happening. The WWE has put a rocket launcher on the back of Almas with pairing him with Vegas. Since they see something in him, I don’t see them having him drop the belt to Gargano. If the WWE doesn’t put the strap on Gargano, it will be interesting to see how they do it.

Since they are giving him the underdog tag like Daniel Bryan had heading into Wrestlemania 30. There is only one way for them to continue this run until Wrestlemania and that is with someone from Gargano’s past. We haven’t seen Tommaso Ciampa on NXT TV since he turned heel on Gargano in 2017. When he first went on the shelf, it was indicated that he would be back in 2018.
So why not have him return at Takeover to screw over Gargano. It is very apparent that the two were going to feud after he turned heel, but it was scratched due to his injury. It would be a perfect moment to have him return to Philadelphia. By having him return, you give Gargano a program heading into Takeover on the night before Wrestlemania. It is also worth noting that Gargano is over enough with the WWE crowd that I don’t see him needing the title.
I see them giving Almas a bit of time with the belt. However, I don’t see it being easy for him as you have guys like Adam Cole, Rodrick Strong, and Aleister Black.
