After the entertainment world lost Luke Perry on Monday, the wrestling world lost a superstar on Tuesday. It was reported through various outlets that Christopher Pallies passed away. Fans of the WWF would remember him by his in-ring name, King Kong Bundy. He passed away at the age of 61 due to complications from diabetes. During his 26-year career, he wrestled for various wrestling promotions. Some of them would include the AWA, Continental Wrestling Association, Georgia Championship Wrestling, Maryland Championship Wrestling, NWA New York, WCCW, and most notability for WWF.

He would end up making his debut for the WWF on March 16, 1985, in a win over Mario Mancini. In the early days, King Kong Bundy was managed by Jimmy Hart. Right off the back, he began his gimmick in which he would demand a five count to win the match. However, there has been a lot of debate as to whether it started in the WWF or during his run in Georgia Championship Wrestling. For a while, he owned the quickest victory at WrestleMania. At WrestleMania 1, he defeated S.D. Jones in what was announced at nine seconds. Although, it would later be revealed to be 17 seconds. He held the record until Kane defeated Chavo Guerrero and then later, the Rock defeated Erick Rowan.

While Bundy didn’t have a long career, he is known for one major moment in WWF. He fought Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 2 in a steel cage for the WWF Championship. It should show you how much WWF officials were behind Bundy. He made his debut for the company in March of 1985. A little bit over a year later, he would end up being in the main event of WrestleMania 2 against one of the company’s bigger superstars.

In addition to being one of the top guys in the squared circle, he also had a few guest role spots in some shows.  His most notable one was playing the Uncle in Married with Children. Since the characters had the last name of Bundy, they wanted to have him on. It’s also worth noting that he was one of the former superstars who sued the WWE a few years back. If you want to summarize Bundy’s career in one sentence, it would be that he was one of the best heels in the company.

Over the years, you see wrestlers jump from being a face and a heel. Others stay in one area or another. Bundy was one of the few who wrestled most, if not all, of his career as a heel.

Tune into the Comeback Wrestling Show this Wednesday as Jon and Cruz will be talking about the life and legacy of King Kong Bundy. The show is from 9 pm to 11 pm.
