WWE: Mia Yim is the latest to join NXT
It seems that the breeding grounds for the WWE has been Impact Wrestling. Over the years, we have seen guys like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Eric Young, and Bobby Roode make the jump from TNA/Impact Wrestling to the WWE. We reported earlier about the possibility of James Storm heading to WWE. At this time, we can confirm that the WWE did sign a former Knockouts champion. There are reports going around that the WWE has signed Mia Yim to the NXT brand.
The biggest difference with Mia Yim as compared to a Styles, Joe, or Young is how long she has been involved in the wrestling industry. Many of the guys that went from TNA to the WWE had been in the business since the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. In the case of Yim, she only began her career in 2009. She also has been with companies outside of TNA/Impact Wrestling. Some of them have included CZW, Shine Wrestling, and Shimmer. She wouldn’t make her Impact Wrestling in 2013. From 2013-2015, she made less than five appearances. It wouldn’t be until April of 2015 when we would see her on a more constant basis.
After not resigning with Impact Wrestling, she appeared in WWE’s Mae Young Classic. However, former NXT Woman’s Champion, Shayna Bazler pinned her. Yim was one of the ones to return to the tournament in 2018. She would end up defeating Allysin Kay (Sienna in TNA). Mia Yim would also go on to defeat Kaitlyn in Round 2 action. She will make a wonderful addition to the woman’s division of NXT. In fact, I find it very likely that she could make a presence at Evolution on October 28th. It also figures that she will be put into the NXT Woman’s title picture by early 2019. I figure she will win the belt by the middle of 2019 (around SummerSlam time).
