WWE: The Miz should be next in line for the WWE title
The Miz has been one of the more polarizing figures in the WWE over the years. He broke into this industry back in 2004 when he was on Tough Enough. Throughout his career, he has been mostly in the mid card and had a brief run in the main event scene around Wrestlemania 27 when he was the WWE champion. However, he would go on to drop the belt to John Cena at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view a month later and it seemed that WWE wasn’t going to ever give him another chance.
However, if you fast forward to the night after Wrestlemania 32, the Miz defeated Zack Ryder for the Intercontinental title with the help of his wife Maryse. She made her return that night for the first time in a few years. It seemed that from that moment, the Miz had a resurgence in his career. He would end up holding on to the title for most of 2016 and would produce some of the best matches I have seen on TV. The feud he had with Dolph Ziggler towards the end of 2016 was one of the better feuds in quite some time.
You can even take a look at his mic work and see that it has also improved mightily over the last few months. When WWE introduced the show Talking Smack, the Miz has made that now must see TV as he has cut some of the most passionate promos on Smackdown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan that I have seen in quite some time. I am thinking that for all the hard work he has put in over the last few months, WWE should reward him with a chase towards the WWE title.
I see him as the one who should get a title shot for one reason. When you look at the landscape of Smackdown Live, you will probably have a new Intercontinental champion in Baron Corbin, AJ Styles probably won’t be back in the title picture until probably SummerSlam (If he is still on Smackdown), and I don’t see someone like Dean Ambrose getting back into the picture any time soon. So by process of elimination, I kind of see the Miz as being the next
