WWE News: Jim Ross and Nigel McGuinness to call the WWE UK Show
There will be a familiar voice returning to WWE programing. There are several reports that are now indicating that Jim Ross will be returning to calling for the new WWE UK show set to premiere soon. While the WWE is ovrseas for their European Tour, the WWE did some taping for their new show which will feature guys like Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne.
These reports are also indicating that he will be joined by Nigel McGuinness, who made a name on the European wrestling scene. However, it is worth noting that the WWE UK show will be taped like NXT. They will tape a bunch of episodes in a row and then have McGuiness and Ross do the announcing in the states. The WWE presented the idea for having a UK title earlier in 2017 when they had the United Kingdom tournament.
Jim Ross was a mainstay during the Attitude Era when it came to announcing. However, when he left the company a few years ago, he said that he didn’t want to go back to doing full time announcing. Then he unfortunately lost his wife to an accident and then a few weeks after that would return to the WWE. I give the WWE a ton of credit for doing this by adding this to their list of shows, they are now providing roughly seven hours of in-ring content a week.
I guess my biggest question that needs to be addressed here is unless they are going with wrestlers from other European Promotions like Progress, then you won’t have many people to feature every week. I hope that this show doesn’t turn into how 205 Live did for the WWE. In all honesty, I could see this show finally debuting around Backlash as it was reported that Bate will defend the WWE UK title against Dunne at the Takeover Chicago.
As of this writing it is unknown as to when the show will debut on the WWE Network, but keep in touch with the Inscriber Magazine’s Wrestling Department and we will keep you up to date.
