WWE: Otis Has Become the Feel-Good story of 2020
Five years from now, we are going to look back at 2020 as being a historically bad year. We have seen a ton of celebrity deaths, a major fire in Australia, and a worldwide pandemic. While everything seems to be shut down, WWE and AEW are still putting out new stuff. One of the things that WWE has done is to make Otis of Heavy Machinery a big star. In the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day, we saw Otis try to woo Mandy Rose. After it took time, she finally agreed to go on a date with Otis. Then we fast forward to Valentine’s Day, Otis showed up at the restaurant and saw Mandy Rose with Dolph Ziggler.
After that incident, Mandy kept saying that she didn’t like how Otis blew her off. He kept telling her that he received a text, but she wasn’t buying it. Then in the weeks before WrestleMania 36, it was revealed through the Smackdown hacker that Sonya Deville was the one who sent the text message. At WrestleMania, Otis took on Dolph Ziggler who was accompanied to the ring by Sonya Deville. Towards the end of the match, Mandy Rose came out. She slapped Sonya and kicked Dolph Ziggler in his man area. Otis would end up getting the win. After the match, he got to hug Mandy and got that kiss.

Over the next couple of weeks, He and Mandy Rose were getting a lot of on-screen time together. As we were approaching Money in the Bank, it was announced that the last spot for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match would be between Dolph Ziggler and Otis. Otis ended up winning and would be interested in the match. As we approached the match, there were a lot of people who didn’t think Otis could pull it off.
We would end up seeing him win and utter the line of, ” Yo Mandy, I did it…..” Otis has become the feel-good story of 2020 because it’s the underdog that is relatable. When you look at Otis, he isn’t your typical wrestler as far as having that statue. He’s very relatable to many professional wrestling fans. There are many men who are on the large size and pretty women tend to avoid. However, Otis has taught us all that it does not matter if you’re in great shape, but if you act yourself then any woman would talk to you.
