WWE: Payback not to feature the WWE title?
We are a exactly ten days away from the Raw branded event Payback. One of the matches we are getting is Randy Orton versus Bray Wyatt in a House of Horror match. However, many sites are indicating that if you look at the promotional material going out for this match, there happens to be no mention of it being for the WWE title.
There was a feeling that Randy Orton would defend the title first against Jinder Mahal at Backlash. However, on Talking Smack Renee Young was mentioning how Randy Orton will be defending the title at Payback against Bray Wyatt. So I am figuring that it was just a misunderstanding. As far as WWE plans after Payback, I have a strange feeling that they will put the title on Mahal at Backlash,
I see them putting the title on Mahal is that WWE is pushing him the right way and investing TV time into his character. Also with the introduction of the Bollywood Boyz, I could see some sort of heel stable being put together. At first I didn’t like the idea of Mahal being the new number one contender for the WWE title, but I am starting to like the idea. For starters, Mahal’s win on Smackdown proves that it is the land of opportunity.
Another reason why I am liking this move is there was the unpredictability factor thrown in. If you look at the guys in that match, you would have figured Luke Harper, Sami Zayn, or Dolph Ziggler as the winner. Mahal was no where on the list. However, Smackdown Live has been very unpredictable since the brand split.
Payback and Backlash will be interesting to see how they end up playing off. Will the WWE title be defended at Payback or will they wait until Backlash?
