WWE Rumors: Changes to the commentary team
The early weeks of October are going to be very interesting for both the WWE and AEW. While NXT is set to begin on the USA Network on September 18th, they won’t be fully on USA until October 2nd. In the early weeks of October, AEW will be starting their weekly two-hour show on TNT. In addition, Smackdown is set to be moving to Fox and be airing on Friday nights. Since this move to Fox is being made into a major thing, there are going to be some changes happen, according to the rumors.
Fox officials seem to be very high on Renee Young. They want her to host their studio show. There have even been some rumblings that she may become exclusive to Fox. If this were to be true, then it would mean her time on Raw will be coming to an end soon. In addition, they want to have the announcing teams be exclusive to the brand. If this were to happen, then it would mean that Corey Graves would only be on one show. Currently, he works on both Raw and Smackdown. If I were in charge of this move, I would have Corey Graves stay on Smackdown and bring in someone new for Raw.
Personally, I’d love to see them go back to a two-man booth like we saw for most of the attitude era and the early 2000’s. But since they probably won’t, it will be interesting to see who goes to what brand. Since it seems that 205 Live is coming to an end, I could see something happen to Vic Joseph and Aiden English. Nigel McGuniess may be also looked at, but he is currently on NXT. While Vic Joseph and Aiden English do NXT UK, I see them as being the ones to move. If I were doing each brand here’s how I’d set it up. Raw would have Michael Cole, Nigel McGuniess, and Vic Joseph. On Smackdown, I’d have Tom Phillips, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton.
This is only a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt.
