WWE Rumors: Chris Jericho or John Cena Set to Win the Royal Rumble
It seems that there are many members of the WWE Universe who are still getting over the shocking conclusion to the 2016 Survivor Series in which Brock Lesnar got squashed by a returning Goldberg in under two minutes. Well, the next pay-per-view where both brands will part of happens to in over a month with the Royal Rumble that is going on in Texas. Well, it seems like sites are leaking out possible favorites to win the annual event and would end up going on to headline WrestleMania 33 in Orlando.
I want to note that the only name to be confirmed to be in the Royal Rumble is Goldberg, but since its more than likely that he is going to have something with Brock at Wrestlemania, it won’t be him or Brock. Apparently, the two favorites are Chris Jericho and John Cena. As we wrap up the 2016 calendar year, it seems more and more likely that both wrestlers are on a collision course with the champions on their respective brands.
More WWE: Dean Ambrose WM 33 Opponent Revealed
For the last several weeks, WWE has been teasing some breakup between “best friends” Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho. On the other side, John Cena is currently away on TV as he is filming the second season of American Grit, when he comes back I suspect the story line of him being that he wants to tie and break Ric Flair’s record of 16 titles. While nothing is set and WWE could change their minds before the Rumble, these two seem to be the two wrestlers with the greatest odds of winning it.
I can’t speak for the entire WWE universe, but why can’t WWE give one of their newer talents a win at the Royal Rumble. Between the wrestlers, you have in NXT and the influx of independent wrestlers who have made their way to the WWE. I am not taking anything away from either Chris Jericho or John Cena, but they won’t be active for that much longer. WWE needs to start building wrestlers who should already be in the main event scene like Cesaro or someone from NXT like a Samoa Joe.
This is just a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt. We are still a few weeks away for the Royal Rumble; anything can happen. Personally, I am hoping that we get someone who hasn’t been in the main event of WrestleMania before. I would like just to say to the creative team of WWE that you need to stop relying on your wrestlers like Jericho, John Cena, and Kane as they are getting older. You have talented wrestlers in your company now like Cesaro, Bray Wyatt, Sami Zayn, and others who are should be getting build up already.
