WWE Rumors: Is NJPW interested in bringing back Shinsuke Nakamura?
There’s now an interesting rumor going around regarding the future of Shinsuke Nakamura in the WWE. It was first reported by Dave Meltzer that Nakamura, AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows are soon to have their WWE contracts expire. He figures Styles, Anderson, and Gallows will re-sign with the WWE. However, the same can’t be said about Nakamura. It seems that NJPW has expressed interest in bringing him back. This news comes as the company is reaching new markets. It would a no-brainer for him to make the move.
For starters, he hasn’t done much that would be worth noting. Yeah, he did have the run as NXT Champion, but what has he done since then. Since he has been on the main roster, he has held the US title. He did have the feud with AJ Styles heading into Wrestlemania and beyond. But it didn’t amount to anything. As of this writing, he is the US Champion, but again he hasn’t done much with it. Unless the WWE does do something with him, then it would probably make the most sense to go back to NJPW.
I know he made his name in NJPW, but you would think that going to the WWE would give him more chances. If he does bolt back for NJPW when his contract is up in 2019, then the WWE would be to blame. He was booked phenomenally in NXT. The same can’t be said on the main roster. On the other hand, he is a former three-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Nakamura is also a five-time IWGP Intercontinental champion. He is a one-time IWGP tag team champion. Nakamura also won the 2011 G1 Climax, 2006 G1 Tag league, and the winner of the 2014 New Japan Cup tournament. I know he hasn’t had much time in the WWE. However, if his booking goes the way it has been going, he will be back in NJPW by the summer of 2019.
