WWE Rumors: Rey Mysterio to be back in 2018

As the 27th entrant into the 2018 Royal Rumble, Rey Mysterio made his comeback to the WWE. It was the first time that he was in the middle of a WWE ring in quite some time. Since he returned, there has been a ton of speculation as to whether he will have another run in the WWE. He recently sat down with Inside the Ropes and told them that talks with the WWE are good. In addition, he figures to be back with the company at some point this year.

Now if these are true and he does come back, then where does WWE put him. You can easily make the case that the addition of Rey Mysterio to either RAW, Smackdown, NXT, or 205 Live would benefit the brand greatly. For instance, it would help 205 Live out a lot. In the last few weeks, Triple H has taken over 205 Live. The shows and the matches themselves are better. We have seen guys like Buddy Murphy, Rodrick Strong, and others be brought onto the 205 division and used the right way. While the brand is still trying to not sink, the addition of Rey Mysterio would be greatly impacted. For instance, his name alone would add star power to the brand. The biggest thing that the brand is lacking is a star person to build the brand around.

The addition of him to NXT would also be good. For starters, since NXT is not live and they tape a few episodes in a week it would still allow Rey Mysterio to do other projects. Also, it would add credibility to a ton of the guys who got lost in the shuffle. The dream matches themselves would be insane. You could do him against Aleister Black, Almas, and many of the others. Obviously, his addition to RAW or Smackdown would also be good. The dream matches would be endless. If he does comes to the main roster, I see AJ Styles being his first feud. It seems that the WWE has pushed for that on social media for some time.

This is only a rumor and one should take it with a grain of salt.
