WWE Rumors: Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte at WrestleMania
At the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble, there was history made. In fact, after Asuka eliminated Nikki Bella on the apron, she would become the first winner of the Women’s Royal Rumble. As Asuka was celebrating the win, Charlotte and Alexa Bliss would enter the ring. The hunch was that Asuka was going to get into the face of the champions and that was going to be her pick. Before she could even make a pick, there would be one more surprise.
We would finally see the heavily rumored debut of Ronda Rousey. She didn’t say much and basically spent most of the time pointing at the WrestleMania logo. However, there are now reports coming out that we may now know the two women title matches for WrestleMania. For the Raw brand, the rumor is Alexa Bliss vs. Asuka. On the Smackdown side, the rumor is that Charlotte Flair will be defending the title against Ronda Rousey. For the mainstream fans, this would be great to see Rousey win the belt. Don’t know if I could say the same for the hardcore fans. Over the years, we have seen outsiders come into the WWE and defeat the top guys.
At WrestleMania 11, we saw Bam Bam Bigelow lose to New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor. So celebrities have been involved with the WWE for a long time. However, it has only been in recent time that we have seen other people from other sports leagues make the jump. Thus, someone coming over from the UFC to the WWE isn’t groundbreaking news. The current Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar, made a name for himself in the UFC.
It is a tough transition from the UFC to the WWE. While I see WWE putting the belt on Rousey to get the mainstream attention, the hardcore fan won’t accept it well. This will continue the trend of the top talent of the WWE putting over outsiders.
