WWE Rumors: Shinsuke Nakamura’s Clash of Champions opponent has been revealed
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer, Dave Meltzer talked about how the current plans for Shinsuke Nakamura to take on the Miz for the IC belt at Clash of Champions. Nakamura took the belt off of Finn Balor at the Extreme Rules kickoff show. This is Nakmaura’s first reign with the belt.
On the other side, the Miz is no stranger to the IC belt. As of now, the Miz has the second most IC title reigns. If he were to win at Clash of Champions, he would tie Chris Jericho for most reigns. The argument has been made that the Miz has done his best work with that belt. It’s also worth mentioning that the Miz has made that belt relevant. In my opnion, Nakamura has not been able to do that in his current reign.
While Nakamura having the belt is good because it’s someone not named the Miz. However, bringing back the Miz and the IC title will benefit both at this point. For most of 2019, the IC belt has seemed irrelevant. When the Miz first turned face it was good, now it has become stale. Not saying that he needs to turn heel if he wins the IC belt, it will greatly help his character. On the side of Nakamura, he should be in the main event scene of WWE. He was one of the top guys in NJPW and NXT. Once he got called up to the main roster, he has become an afterthought.
Clash of Champions is WWE’s next ppv and is happening on September 15th from North Carolina. As of now, the only confirmed matches are the finals of the King of Ring tournament and Bayley takes on Charlotte for the Smackdown Woman’s champion.
