WWE Rumors: Undertaker set to appear on Raw to set up WrestleMania match
We are a week away from WrestleMania 34. While a majority of the card has been announced in some fashion, there is still one match that the WWE has yet to announce. According to the rumor mills, The Undertaker is set to appear on the Raw go-home show to accept the challenge from John Cena.
Since John Cena lost the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and Fastlane main event; the storyline he has been in is what his path will be to WrestleMania 34. As he said several times, this is the first time in close to a decade that there wasn’t a clear path. It is worth noting that the WWE Championship and Universal title matches were known and pretty much set in stone. So John Cena has called out the Undertaker and has done a lot of his actions to push him towards a WrestleMania match. I personally feel this is some of the best promos that he has done in his close to two decades with the company. There is a lot of passion and emotion given in them. I also feel that this is the closest we are going to get to see a heel Cena.
While it will be a nostalgia match, it probably won’t be good for when it takes place. If this was around 2005 to 2008, then it would have been great. By this point, Undertaker isn’t the same wrestler anymore and Cena isn’t young anymore. In addition, you are having Undertaker wrestle again at WrestleMania less than a year after you had Roman Reigns “retire” him. By having him fight Cena at WrestleMania, you are making that a moot point. This is why I think we are getting the American Bad Ass gimmick and not the Deadman gimmick.
This is a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt.
