WWE: The Greatest Royal Rumble should begin the road to SummerSlam

In a couple of weeks, the WWE will have their Post-WrestleMania European tour. This time, the WWE is stopping in Saudi Arabia for what is being called The Greatest Royal Rumble. It will have seven title matches, a match between John Cena and Triple H, and the largest Royal Rumble in history. The WWE did something similar back at the 2011 Royal Rumble when they had it be a 40 man rumble.

At this event, they are stepping it up a notch and having it be fifty guys enter this Rumble. As we know with the Royal Rumble, the winner gets a title shot at WrestleMania. They shouldn’t say the main event because as we have seen at WrestleMania 33 and 34, the winner of Royal Rumble didn’t main event the pay per view. While the WWE has not announced anything as to what the winner gets, I think I may have the right idea.

Since the Royal Rumble is the pay-per-view that begins the Road to WrestleMania, why not have this one be the Road to SummerSlam. SummerSlam happens to be the next major pay-per-view for the WWE. I am aware that you have Backlash, Money in the Bank, and others; However, I would still say SummerSlam is the next big one. I would set it up that the winner of the Greatest Royal Rumble gets to choose either the WWE World Heavyweight title or the Universal title to face at SummerSlam. By doing this, you are not only helping SummerSlam. You are also giving the superstars an end goal.

It is tough to get an event or match over with a crowd if there is no end game. I am not saying that a title needs to be on the line. All I am saying is there needs to be some sort of payoff. Also, you will get more eyes on the event if you announce that for the winner. Let us now forget also that you get time to build the feud up. In the case of the Royal Rumble, you get two and a half months. By doing this, you are getting close to three and a half months to build the feud up.
