NXT: How we could still get Tommaso Ciampa vs Johnny Gargano at Takeover Brooklyn
As we saw on NXT on Wednesday, the NXT Championship will be on the line as Tommaso Ciampa will challenge Aleister Black. This title match is set for the July 25th episode of NXT. In addition, we are seeing a different Johnny Gargano. I could see a few scenarios playing out for this, but I see one major one being the way we get the rubber match between Ciampa and Gargano at Takeover Brooklyn in August.
On the July 25th episode, I could see two scenarios playing out. The first one is Ciampa becoming the new NXT Champion. This would lead Gargano to snap and convince General Manager William Regal to let him and Ciampa settle their differences in a Hell in a Cell match. The other option is we see Ciampa go for the pin, the lights go out and as the lights turn back on, Gargano is beating the crap out of Ciampa. This would be similar to what occurred a few weeks ago when Gargano had a shot at the NXT title. I would consider it to be foolish to not have the finale to the Gargano/Ciampa feud. In fact, the WWE has invested a ton of TV time into this feud. Thus making this the best feud in 2018 and one of the best NXT feuds in the history of NXT.
It would be a disservice to the fans to not have a conclusion to this feud. This still gives time for a build to Ricochet/Black for the NXT title at Brooklyn. If they go ahead with the finale of Gargano/Black, then I would have it close out the show. I said it at Takeover New Orleans and Chicago that they should close with this match. I’m saying the same thing about Brooklyn. I know people have this feeling that you need to have the championship match to close a show out. However, I don’t follow that way. I’m on the thinking that if you have put so much time into a feud and it has some magic close with that.
