WWE: Top Five Wrestlers who should get a documentary about their life

It was reported yesterday that HBO Sports and Bill Simmons, in cooperation with the WWE, will be producing a documentary on wrestling legend Andre the Giant. This project is set to be directed by Jason Hehir, who has done work as the producer for ESPN’s 30 for 30 series and was the producer of the 2010 documentary entitled Finding Hulk Hogan. There is no set date yet for the release of the documentary. However, since this news was released, it got me thinking as to what either former WWE or current WWE superstar can have a documentary made about their life.

So I will now present my top five wrestlers, past and present, who I feel should be next in line for a documentary to be made on their life:

1- Bruno Sammartino: I know this may sound out of left field, but I will explain this one. I would love to see one done on Bruno as he was an immigrant from Italy. He came to America and became one of the first big name wrestlers in the WWF. I would also love to hear about his run that he had when he was the champion for eleven years on two different runs. He also would be the main event for the monthly events done at the Garden. I would also love to hear about the fallout he had with WWE and how they made up.

2- Bret Hart: I would love this as he came from one of wrestling’s most powerful families. I would love this one to see what it was like being a member of the Hart family. I would also love to hear about the Montreal Screwjob that happened at the 1997 Survivor Series in Montreal. This would also be interesting to see what it was also like when Owen Hart died in 1994.

3- Daniel Bryan- I hope this one truly does happen. I would love for this one to happen as he is considered one of the first wrestlers to be successful in the independent scene and transition into the WWE. Also, I would like to see what it was like leading up to Wrestlemania 30 when he would go on and defeat Triple H, Batista, and Randy Orton to capture the WWE title in one of the best story lines to happen in WWE in years.

4- The Rock- This would be interesting as you can go many different directions with this one. You have a wrestler who made the jump from college football to the squared circle. You can also look at how he became one of the bigger stars during the Attitude Era and what it was like to be in one of wrestling’s powerful families. I would like to see what it was like to have to be at the top of your game and to keep the family legacy afloat.

5- Chris Jericho: I put him on this list as he is someone who has been at the top of the WWE chain for quite some time. He is someone who was a part of the original cruiserweight division that was in WCW and then he made it to the WWE to have a successful career. He owns many records as he was able to redo this gimmick. There are many who say that his latest run is one of this better runs and I hope this documentary would look at it.

There are many others who can make this list, but these are the ones that I hope happen soon enough. I see WWE fans of all ages who can appreciate. Let us know in the comments below or tweet Jon Blayne @jon_blayne and tell us what wrestler you would like a documentary to be made about.
