WWE: What was the better faction in the modern age?

When you ask a wrestling fan about factions, you tend to hear the answers of DX, NWO, Four Horseman, and Evolution. It seemed that we were going through a time where stables were becoming a lost art in the professional wrestling landscape. Then we started to see them pop up like the Bullet Club. However, when you are talking about stables in the modern age of WWE there are two that are top of the list.

You have the Shield (Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins) and the Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Eric Rowan, and Braun Strowman). From 2012 until now, we have seen either one or both stables running course within the WWE. However, I would like to try and answer a tough question.

Which stable was better: The Shield or The Wyatt Family?

Let us look at the Shield. After Seth Rollins turned on the Shield on the June 2, 2014, episode of RAW, it seemed that the WWE had big plans for Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns. In the three years that they were singles stars before having a match at the 2017 TLC, all three of them were involved with 30 main events.

There were also a few main events when it was involving one of them. In addition, each member of the Shield has become a triple crown winning and a grand slam winner. In case you weren’t aware, a Grand Slam Champion is when a wrestler wins both the US, IC, Tag titles, and WWE Championship. The triple crown is different in the sense that the wrestler needs to win the WWE Champion, either the US or IC belt, and the tag team titles.

On the other hand, you have the Wyatt Family. Unlike the Shield, the Wyatt Family just dissolved after the WWE Superstar Shakeup. It seems that the WWE hasn’t done much with them when they first went off on their own. However, it seems now that in 2018, the WWE is fully behind the Wyatt Family. Bray Wyatt is one-half of the RAW tag team champions, Harper and Rowan are the Smackdown Live Tag Champions as the Bludgeon Brothers, and Braun Strowman won the Greatest Royal Rumble. Strowman was awarded a belt for that win.

This is tough. The Shield accomplished something that no other stable had done by having all the members become a grand slam champion. However, on the flip side, the members of the Wyatt Family are sort of ruling the WWE landscape on bothering brands.

As I think about it more, I got to lean towards the Shield. They went out on top and haven’t looked back. All three members of the Shield have remained relevant and at the top of the WWE. There were sometimes when certain members of the Wyatt Family were forgotten.
