WWE: Where Should Crown Jewel be Moved to?
Over the last couple of weeks, the world has been glued to the on-going events in the Middle East. In case you aren’t aware, Jamal Khashoggi went to the embassy of Saudi Arabia to retrieve some marriage paperwork. What made this story take a turn was that he went missing. Earlier Friday afternoon, the Saudis admitted that Khashoggi was killed. This has made worldwide headlines because it puts the Saudi Arabia nation into a bad light. One of the companies brought up with the Saudi Arabia situation was the WWE.
If you haven’t watched WWE programming in the last couple of weeks, then you would miss them promoting that they are heading to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel. The event should be main evented by Roman Reigns defending the Universal title against Braun Strowman and a returning Brock Lesnar. We will also see Daniel Bryan challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship.
We will also see the World Cup tournament to determine the best in the “World.” While these are the matches set to happen, I mention they should because as of this writing, there could still be a chance that they won’t hold Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. They have been getting a ton of pressure from Congress to cancel the event. In addition, they want to the WWE to back out of the ten-year deal with the nation.
They have a ton of superstars who have expressed that they don’t want to go. Personally, I felt the Saudi Arabia deal was not good for business. The WWE has prided themselves on being apart of the Women’s evolution movement. By doing at least two shows a year, none of the WWE women can perform on this show. I have been advocating on my show, Comeback Wrestling Show, that the WWE should move the event away from the area. You can move it to England. England has been a hotbed for wrestling and they haven’t had a PPV or event in a long time.
By going to Saudi Arabia, the WWE is putting people’s lives in jeopardy. With all the uncertainty going on, it isn’t a safe area.
