WWE: Why the Fiend Should Not Lose at WrestleMania

The Fiend

As of this writing, The Fiend is still the WWE Universal title. He took the belt off of Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel in October. Prior to the Fiend, Bray Wyatt was a fan favorite but was not getting any push from WWE officials.  In his time as the Bray Wyatt gimmick, he had one run with the WWE title, one run as the Smackdown and Raw tag team champion. However, none of them are memorable.

This run as the Universal champion has been okay to a point. He has defeated Daniel Bryan, The Miz, and Seth Rollins. At Super Showdown, he is set to take on WCW legend Goldberg for the title. While nothing has been made official, he will be probably taking on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania for the Universal title. The feeling among the wrestling community is that Roman Reigns will probably be the one to dethrone the Fiend. That may be the way they end up going, but I don’t think that’s the right way to go.

The Fiend has held the WWE Universal title since October of last year.  I don’t feel that they have even reached the tip of the iceberg with the Fiend gimmick.

If you recall, Brock Lesnar held the title for over 500 days and everyone had a problem because of the lack of his defenses. I wouldn’t mind seeing the Fiend going on a run like that. It will accomplish two things. It will push the Fiend to be a megastar and it will also add more credibility to the title.

Since the title debuted at Summerslam 2016 when Seth Rollins took Finn Balor, the title has not had a ton of credibility. None of the previous winners have had a lengthy or memorable run. Brock Lesnar was the only one to have a long run with it but rarely defended it.
