WWE: The WWE Championship match will lead to a turn

We are a few weeks away from the 2018 Royal Rumble. While the card is essentially complete, there is one match that will be interesting to look at. As it was announced on Smackdown Live a few weeks ago, we will see Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have a match against AJ Styles in a handicap match for the WWE title. While I don’t want to give my prediction away, there is something in me that doesn’t see AJ Styles losing the belt.

One storyline that people will need to look at is the dynamics between Owens and Zayn. Sami Zayn turned heel towards the end of 2017 to help Owens beat Shane McMahon. The storyline that has been told since Sami Zayn turned heel was that he finally gets why Owens turned heel three years ago. However, the problem comes into play that who will get the pin. The WWE has two options they can go for as far as the finish to this match. The first one is to have either Sami Zayn or Kevin Owens pin AJ Styles and become co-champions. However, I can’t see that happening because then Shane would probably come out and demand that they restart the match.

The other option that the WWE would have would make it interesting heading into WrestleMania. You can have Sami Zayn turn on Kevin Owens. Kevin Owens has been a heel since NXT Takeover: Revolution when Sami Zayn beat Nevile for the NXT title. By doing this you are ensuring that Owens will be a babyface. Thus, you could give Zayn more time as a heel. Since Sami has been a heel, it has been with Owens. By going this route, you can see if Zayn has what it takes to be a true heel. Also, a program between these two heading into the biggest stage would be a money feud.
